Newsletter 3rd April, 2025.

From the Principal

It is hard to believe it is the last week of term 1 already, what a big term it has been! We are hoping the new IEP format and reporting is streamlined and easy for families to understand. A simple report will go out tomorrow to report against the term 1 IEP goals, behaviour and work habits.

Two staff members attended a professional learning session in Melbourne last Friday, the focus was literacy and phonics in the specialist setting. Both Lucy and Lyn found the training very effective and will be sharing their new knowledge with staff as we roll out the new curriculum and teaching and learning model. Lyn our Learning Specialist has been busy purchasing new readers both physical and online and developing teaching resources for teachers to use in their classrooms.

As a whole school focus, we continue to work within the framework of the School Wide Positive Behaviour Schools Mode, we have developed our new values of kindness, safety, teamwork & respect. The students have been gaining ‘student of the week’ points with our focus value for the week. The students have a strong understanding of the values and how we display these at school.

I wish everyone a safe and relaxing holiday and welcome students back on Tuesday.

Take care

Kylie Carter

Control Your Scroll

Ctrl Your Scroll is an evidence-based program designed to help individuals develop healthier digital habits to reduce their screen time and improve their overall wellbeing.

We had the presenters of Control your Scroll at the senior campus on Monday 31/3/205

It was an engaging session that highlighted how the amount of time we spend on our devices can impact our mental health, social connections and friendship/relationships .

Some interesting facts that came from the presentation were;

**58% of young Australians think their mental health is getting worse, with 42% citing social media as a major reason

**People who use smartphones for more than four hours a day are more likely to experience higher rates of stress and anxiety

**Engaging in hobbies and interests outside of work and school is correlated with better mental health
