Its hard to believe we are heading into week 9!! What a busy term of learning and engagement we have had.
For the first time we will be issuing term 1 reports, these will be a simple 1 page report that will give you a progress report on how your child is tracking against their individual goals, work effort, behaviour and attendance. This will be a snapshot into their learning at Hampden. Next term staff will add a new goal if a goal has been achieved or continue an existing goal into term 2. These will be followed up with a phone SSG to review the IEP.
Several staff over the past 2 Fridays have participated in the Youth Mental Health First Aid Certificate in Camperdown, this will build staff capacity when managing student mental health at the school. We also have 2 staff members attending a phonics reading professional learning in Melbourne next Friday that has a focus on specialist schools, this program will support our Sounds Write Program and the teaching of reading at Hampden.
Today Lisa, Davey and Geraldine’s class participated in an excursion to Kirrae in Framlingham to celebrate the ‘Closing the Gap’ program, students and staff alike were bursting with enthusiasm after having a fantastic day at this program.
Have a great weekend everyone!!
Take care

Self portraits completed by Middle Years are on display in the Art Room.
They did a fantastic job on these artworks, which celebrate the student’s abilities, interests and differences. Well done to everyone involved.

MY 1 have been learning about Onomatopoeia, students have been using onomatopoeia in their writing ready to create their own comics. Onomatopoeia refers to the use of words which sound like the noise they refer to eg 'Hiss', 'buzz'

Lisa, Davey and Geraldines students had a very enjoyable day today at Framlingham at the ‘Close the Gap Day’ event. The students returned to school very excited by all that they had seen and participated in (they also loved the freebies, with lots of football in the yard at lunchtime with their new footy’s!)
Closing the Gap acknowledges the ongoing strength and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in sustaining the world’s oldest living cultures. Closing the Gap is underpinned by the belief that when Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have a genuine say in the design and delivery of policies, programs and services that affect them, better life outcomes are achieved. It also recognises that structural change in the way governments work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people is needed to close the gap.
