Newsletter 12th December, 2024

From the Principal

It is hard to believe this is the last newsletter I will be writing for 2024, the year has really flown by and we have a lot to celebrate. We have the new middle years building complete and the students are loving learning in the new classrooms, they are also enjoying the new play spaces. We are waiting for the works to install the wheelchair trampoline and carousel. Early years have new playground equipment ordered in the form of a nest swing and a see-saw; we are also looking at a slide for the early years campus.

Today we celebrated our Presentation of Awards Day, which is a huge celebration not only for our award winners and their families but all our students and teachers. Not everyone can receive an award on the day, but all students can be proud of the growth and progress they have made at school, whether that was achieving all their goals, regularly attending school, wearing a school uniform or showing kindness to those around them. All growth is to be acknowledged and celebrated. Staff always battle with choosing their award winners because there is a valid argument why every single student could be a recipient.

I would like to thank all our families for their support of the school and their children in 2025, Hampden are very privileged to have families who are so supportive of the school. When we work together, we ensure the very best outcomes for our students.

Next Wednesday is our last day of school for students and I am sure they are looking forward to the summer break after all their hard work this year. Thank you to our hard-working staff that go above and beyond every day to provide a great day every day for our students.

I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a safe and happy new year. I look forward to seeing all the refreshed faces in 2025 for another year of growth and celebration.

Take care

Kylie Carter

Early Years Report

Middle Years Tiny Towns

The Middle Years students have been working so hard all semester to create their own Tiny Towns while working in groups across the three classes. They have written persuasive letters to businesses around the community to donate reusable and recyclable items to create their towns. They have demonstrated group work and compromise to create a town that includes everyone’s ideas. They have applied knowledge about civics and citizenship to include all of the necessary features of a town to function effectively and democratically. It has been hard work, but worth it!
