We have reached the half way mark of our final term and teachers are very excited with the results the assessments are showing. Many students are progressing rapidly in literacy and maths. As an observation across classrooms we have noticed how calm the classrooms are with staff working hard on positive language to support both learning and behaviours. We are actively teaching expected behaviours across the whole school with a strong focus on whole school language.  

Our School Wide Positive Behaviour Team (SWPBS) are finalising the school values matrix and our methodology for implementing this across our school with an emphasis on language and effective feedback. 

This week our Education Support Staff (ESS) have been participating in peer observations, this entails filming small group work with the ESS and a specific focus of giving high levels of feedback to students to emphasis learning and behaviour expectations. This practice builds staff capacity and improves practice.

Next Monday and Tuesday our Middle Years students head to Port Fairy on camp, many of the students are excited about fishing and the visit to Budj Bim National Park, along with many other activities. Davey, Tash and the team have been busy planning the meals, room allocations, buses and a thousand other things. A reminder that Middle Years students will have a student free day next Wednesday so we can move into our brand new Middle Years building. The new building and the playground is amazing, the students will have lovely calming places to learn and grounds that encourage socialising, ball games and very soon a wheelchair friendly trampoline and carousel. We should be able to start learning from the new space next Thursday.

We look forward to celebrating the success of all our students in the coming weeks both at our year 12 graduation and end of year presentations.
