Students are working hard to achieve their goals in their learning plans before the end of the semester. This is a satisfying time of the year as teacher assess students and celebrate their progress to report to parents at midyear.
Managing bullying continues to have a strong focus for the school particularly with our Later Years students. The students have benefited from a strong program of Respectful Relationships, liaising with community police and specialised sessions with professionals around the impact of bullying, cyber bullying and general inappropriateness of language at school even when not directly targeted at individuals. Our students have a strong knowledge of what bullying is and the impact it can have on others and we are working towards a model where students stand up for their own rights and the rights of others. John Keats from community police describes this as being an upstander rather than a bystander and the need to empower each other, student/peer voice is far stronger than adult intervention. Parents will continue to be contacted to take their child home if they become involved in any form of bullying or inappropriate behaviours. We appreciate the strong support families provide to their child and the school for reinforcing kindness and respect.
Supporting wellbeing of our students and families embraces the Hampden way along with a strong emphasis on academic progression, we value supporting every aspect of the development of our young people including their social, emotional and academic learning.
Have a great weekend.
Thank you.
Take care,
Kylie Carter

The MY3 students have been learning about Fractions. They have coloured different fractions, labelled different fractions and compared fractions. They have even made pizzas and divided their pizzas into fractions.
Here are some photos of the pizza fractions they have designed and showed the fractions of toppings they used on their pizzas by writing an ingredients list.
“I liked the pizzas to make them. I used halves and quarters on my pizza” Miles R
Tyler and William worked together to create their fraction pizza.
“ I liked making the pizza. I put cheese on half, and pineapple, pepperoni and bacon on quarters” Tyler B
“I liked making the pizza and using actual pizza boxes. We used sauce on the whole pizza, half cheese, quarter pineapple, quarter bacon and quarter pepperoni” William H
“I liked using the box for this activity and writing the ingredients list. It has half ham, half bacon and the whole pizza has sauce and cheese” Ella A
“I liked being able to put toppings on the pizza and I liked building it, it was good. I cut my pizza in quarters” Jesse S-W
