Newsletter 7th September, 2023

From the Principal

The end of term is quickly approaching which also means we are close to moving into our new school at Terang. The last day of term, the 15th of September there will be no classes for our Terang students as we will be moving furniture into the new building. Day 1 term 4 we will commence at the new school in Dow Street. We look forward to welcoming students and families to our beautiful new school, in the future we will welcome the community with an open day.

This week we have had staff and students at both the Terang and Cobden campus testing positive to COVID. If your child is slightly unwell, please test and keep them home for the isolation period of 5 days.

Thank you to all parents that have completed the online parent survey, this gives us very helpful data on how your feel about our school and allows you to have a voice in planning for the future.  At this stage we only have 10% of our families that have responded😊

Next year in term 1 2024 our school undergoes a school review which is a rigorous process to analyse all aspects of our school including the curriculum, wellbeing, programs, policies, and a variety of other aspects of the school. This review enables us to plan for the future and ensure we have the best environment for our staff and students.

Take care

Our school is conducting a survey to find out what parents / caregivers / guardians think of our school. The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education that is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behavior, and student engagement. We encourage all families to participate. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.

All families are invited to participate in the survey.

The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey will be open from Monday 7 August to Friday 8 September 2023.

The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time within the survey period on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones. The online survey will be available in English and 10 other languages including Arabic, Greek, Hakha Chin, Hindi, Japanese, Punjabi, Simplified Chinese, Somali, Turkish, and Vietnamese.

Last year we used the survey results to plan for 2023 and how we can improve the school

Early Years Report

Middle Years Camp 2023

On Thursday 31st August 2023 students and staff journeyed to Warrnambool to enjoy a one night school camp at Warra Gnan Coastal Camp. We were met by the cheerful and knowledgeable Ben and Dave. After unpacking, we headed out for a long and interesting walk along the coast. After learnijg about the breakwater and the penguins we had an action packed session of beach games which everyone enjoyed.

Back at camp we had a lovely dinner and a movie before heading off to our rooms.

The next day we tried very very hard to catch a fish but to no avail. The students made their own lunches and then we headed to Thunder Point to investigate rockpools and play in the surf.

Students and staff were pretty tired as we headed back to Cobden. Well done all who went.

Student Birth Certificate's

Upon an audit if our student records, we do not have copies of many Immunisation and Birth Certificate's for our students.
We will send emails requesting these in the coming week but in the meantime, can you please give it a thought as to the location of these certificate's and/or how you might be able to get a copy to us.  Below are instructions on how to get a birth certificate online, or click here.  Immunisation certificates can be downloaded from your MyGov Medicare account.
