Newsletter 1st June, 2023.

From the Principal

The cold weather has certainly kicked in and along with it some colds, coughs and COVID.  Please remain vigilant in monitoring if your child is well enough to attend school.  Please let us know if you require COVID testing kits and we will send them home with your child. Thank you to all the parents using the XUNO app to contact your child’s teacher and explain absences.

All the students have been busy with lots of different excursions and experiences including basketball, AFL clinics, dancing, visits to IGA to study health food, ‘Try a Career Day’ at Deakin and even a visit to Fitzmedia. It is great to see our students back in the community and making the most of all the opportunities it presents.

Staff continue to work hard on planning programs for students that are educational and engaging and this is evident in the wide range of activities offered across the curriculum. Wellbeing of students, staff and families remains a focus of the school and it is more important than ever that we work together for the very best outcomes for the students.

Numeracy is also a focus of the school this year, with staff working hard on engaging the learners in maths and building positive attitudes to mathematics.  Many parents will remember feeling that maths was hard and scary and we work hard towards making it fun and engaging to consolidate the learning. The Quicksmart program that is implemented with some of the students is showing very pleasing outcomes at the Terang Campus with Patrick and Zoe becoming math wizzes. Thank you to Pam O’Keeffe for all your hard work with these students, the results speak for themselves.

Tomorrow and next Friday are both student free days as staff have report writing and Professional Learning with the Real Schools Program. Real Schools support the school to build a strong culture of safety confidence in ourselves and the school environment.

Take care

Kylie Carter
