Wow the term is really flying by, it is hard to believe it is week 8 already!
Staff have had a very beneficial 2 days of professional learning with Cobden Technical School this week. The Berry Street Trauma Training Model is a 4-day training that staff have completed over 2022 and 2023. This model educates staff on the importance of developing positive relationships with students, forming classroom routines and strategies for supporting students to build confidence in their learning and self-belief.
I will be on leave for the next 2 weeks; Brad Adams will be in the Acting Principal role for the remaining 2 weeks. I am very confident he will do a brilliant job in my absence.
I was lucky enough last week to have a walk through of our new school in Terang which is proceeding quickly. The brand new building is very impressive, with 4 large classrooms, a multi-purpose room, a designated DC and Art space and lovely playground and surrounds. We are very excited and are hopeful to be moving to our new building in either term 3 or 4.
Take care
Kylie Carter
Principal
Throughout the past fortnight students in Davey’s class have been learning about measurement. They have been using rulers to measure various items using Centimetres. Their skills have been improving with each lesson and it is great to see students engaging with their learning. We will be learning about different units of measurement in upcoming maths lessons. Stay tuned for more progress. Well done Davey’s class.
On the 15th of March Leigh’s class went to Camperdown’s Mt Leura to investigate our own local volcano as part of our unit on different types of volcano’s around the world.
We were lucky to have a personal tour of the education centre by Wayne and he was able to tell us many interesting facts such as the type of volcano (nested maar) and the last time Mt Leura erupted (about 40,000 years ago).
