Presentation of Awards

From the Principal

Another fortnight has quickly gone by, and we are busy at school working towards a successful 2022 and planning for the coming year. We continue to have strong enrolments across the school which is very pleasing.

The new school building at Terang is meeting timelines and is starting to take shape, if you have the chance go for a drive past our new site on Dow Street Terang. We have also been meeting with VSBA and Project 12 (architects) making plans for the new grant in Cobden. The money has been allocated to replace Middle Years relocatable buildings and share an updated Art space with Cobden Technical School. The challenge is the tight space and budget, but I am confident our team will produce something invigorating for our students.

Our Berry Street Trauma training session last Tuesday was very insightful for our staff, the professional learning session focused on the importance of building strong relationships with our families and community. This is something our school has always valued and placed a lot of importance on, strong relationships are what ensures the best outcomes for our students. We will complete the next 2 days of this valuable training in March next year.

Look out for tickets in the next day or so for our Monster Christmas raffle proudly sponsored by Dean and Kristie Simpson. Dean and Kristie are one of our valuable families taking the time to raise money for the school. Thank you for all your hard work.

Art - Student Articles

For this week’s Art contribution, students were asked to create a page, that displayed a piece of work they’ve completed and explain the meaning behind it.

This semester we have been focusing on themes around Environment. Students have made several works over the weeks, including chalk drawings that show the effects of climate change on our environment and collages that highlight the damage of plastic in our oceans.

We’ve got some very talented young artists at our school!

Middle Years lunch at Thommo’s Hotel.

Middle Years lunch outing.

The Middle Years group went out for lunch last Friday to Thommo’s Hotel here in Cobden. Students enjoyed a fantastic meal, and enjoyed some wonderful entertainment provided by Zach on the piano. Both staff and students had a nice time, and everyone was impressed by how well-mannered our students were and how each student demonstrated such fantastic behaviour. Well done Middle Years students, you did a great job representing our school. A big thank you to the staff at Thommo’s Hotel who did a great job and made our lunch outing a such an occasion.

Movember

MOVEMBER IS A GOOD TIME TO HELP THE MEN IN OUR LIVES TO ADDRESS ANY HEALTH ISSUES THEY ARE “TOO BUSY” TO FOLLOW UP .

IF YOU SEE ANY FUNDRAISING EVENTS OR WOULD LIKE TO SET UP YOUR OWN EVENT CHECK OUT THEIR WEBSITE

https://au.movember.com

From humble beginnings back in 2003 the Movember movement has grown to be a truly global one, inspiring support from over 5 million Mo Bros and Mo Sistas.

Our fathers, partners, brothers and friends face a health crisis that isn’t being talked about. Men are dying too young. We can’t afford to stay silent.

THAT’S WHY WE’RE TAKING ACTION.

We’re the only charity tackling men’s health on a global scale, year round. We’re addressing some of the biggest health issues faced by men: prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health and suicide prevention.

We know what works for men, and how to find and fund the most innovative research to have both a global and local impact. In 15 years we’ve funded more than 1,200 men’s health projects around the world.
