Is my child eligible to enroll?
All children aged between four years nine months and 18 years old wit an intellectual disability are eligible for enrollment at Hampden Specialist School. If your child is receiving additional resources at a regular school under the program for students with disabilities they are aenrolmentle for enrollment at Hampden Specialist School.

What is the cost?

There are no fees.

Is there a uniform?

The wearing of the school uniform is optional. However, students accessing classes in host schools are encouraged to wear the uniform of that school.

How would my child get to school?

The Education Department provides buses to the door for all students attending the school. Transport is provided to all areas surrounding Mortlake, Terang, Cobden, Camperdown, Derrinallum, Simpson, Port Campbell, Timboon, Nullawarre, Framlingham, Ellerslie, and Garvoc. Children may also access regular school buses if appropriate.

How does the school cater for children with academic needs?

Hampden Specialist School has specially-trained teachers in all areas of primary and secondary education as well as special education. The school also has a trained Early Literacy Coordinator and a trained Early Numeracy Coordinator.

The highly-successful and award-winning Computer Assisted Books program was developed at Hampden Specialist School and continues to underpin all school literacy programs, particularly in the primary campus of the school.

What other specialist are available at the school?

Speech pathology, physiotherapy and occupational therapy are provided on a regular basis. Other specialists are engaged on a needs basis.
